Dem's probably the only one who knows this, seeing as she's my roommate and we've been running design and decorating ideas by each other, but I've run into a rut with the lighting in my bedroom. Before I had cathedral ceilings and my halogen floor lamp did a beautiful job lighting up the entire room. Sadly, now I don't have high ceilings and the halogen light is too close to the ceiling and the lighting is just not good enough anymore.
My very first idea was a large drum shade, like this lovely Regency one (My favorite time period!) or this. Or I can even buy a plain white one and cover it in my own fabric choice! I'd seen giant ones in Palomino, a local restaurant, but then I remembered I have three rice paper lanterns from way back when that are sitting in my mother's garage. Ah ha! So then I thought of hanging a cluster of said lanterns (my three white ones plus Dem gave me two purple ones) and wrap the cords in ribbon. Five lanterns should give me enough light, right? Then I thought I could hang them from a tree branch for extra interest. Oooh, right??
Then Design Within Reach announced their anniversary sale: an unprecedented 15% off just about everything and free shipping. That means the Random Light is only $518.50... Where's my credit card?!
