Stupid People on MySpace

This is courtesy of TheTechStop.net, Sunday, 25 June 2006

From the article: “The defense attorney for Pete Solis, the 19-year-old Texas community college student charged with sexually assaulting the girl dubbed "Julie Doe" in her lawsuit, told TIME that if the Texas courts accept the premise that MySpace is liable because the two met there, then his client also has a claim, since the alleged victim falsely portrayed herself on the webiste as 15 years old.”

First there was the girl who sued MySpace for getting her assualted. Now we have a threatened lawsuit by the man who did the assaulting. This is ridiculous! Is NOBODY responsible for their own actions anymore? Can I sue studios that make movies which are TOO entertaining, thereby increasing the likelihood that I’ll gain weight by sitting on the couch to watch their flic? Can I sue Home Depot for selling me a screwdriver and driving me into a life of crime, prying open car doors? Can I sue porn sites for giving me carpal tunnel syndrome?

I'm speechless. You can't blame a website for causing you to behave in a certain way! Did the website tell you to go out and assualt people?! No, of course it didn't! You have to take responsibility for your own actions! This is mad. People need to grow up and get some common sense. Not that the kids (and by kids, I mean everyone in this farce because it doesn't matter how old you are, you're still a kid if you behave with such recklessness, irresponsibility and immaturity) are completely to blame - bad parenting is at fault, too! Oh don't think you're getting off that easily! Oh no, no, no! You should be aware that your child is spending way too much time online - MySpace or wherever - chatting to God knows who and you should've taught them some common internet sense! ARGH! If you can't do it, DON'T have children. Or get help.
